Champions of Digital 

These awards are looking for travel firms and technology suppliers or agencies that excel in key areas of the digital economy. We’re looking for examples of best practice and success in customer experience, content, design, mobile and use of data that demonstrates the best creativity and flair in the travel sector.

This award seeks to honour travel firms and/or digital agencies which put good quality content at the heart of their strategy to inspire customers throughout their dreaming, booking and experiencing journey. We’re looking for original and creative use of written, visual and audio content whether professionally produced or user-generated or both on any and/or multiple channels. Particular notice will be taken of advances and innovations made within the last 12 months.

This award will be given to the technology provider or in-house technology team responsible for the best example of design and functionality developed to address customer requirements and enhance their digital experience. Judges will be looking for a combination of outstanding aesthetics and simple usability to make the experience as relevant and personalised as possible. Particular notice will be taken of advances and innovations made within the last 12 months.

This award will be given to the technology company or in-house technology team judged to have used modern technologies to make the most intelligent and successful use of data in its business to tailor the offering to their target market. Judges will be looking for innovative techniques in both the collation and analysis of data and for success in exploiting the insights it offers, while keeping within data protection regulations and ensuring consumer confidentiality. Particular notice will be taken of advances and innovations made within the last 12 months.

This award seeks to honour travel firms and/or digital agencies which focus on aesthetics and design. We’re looking for original and creative use of latest web and mobile design techniques and use of rich content to create something that truly reflects the vibrant and exciting product that the travel industry specialises in. Particular notice will be taken of advances and innovations made within the last 12 months.

This award will be given to a technology provider or in-house technology team within an organisation which has developed or launched a leading mobile app or service during the entry period. We’ll be looking for entries that show innovation in this increasingly crucial channel that demonstrate successful execution of a pre-defined, strategic approach to providing goods and/or services via mobile.

Marketing Awards 

This category of awards is open to marketing campaigns in a range of disciplines. We’re looking for best practice in the sector whether it’s agencies running campaigns on behalf of clients, the work of in-house teams or a mixture of both. Judges will take into account the overall efficacy of campaigns on brand sentiment and customer engagement. Our final shortlist of contenders will be invited to pitch their entry in person to the judges before the winner is decided.

This award will be given to the agency or travel brand behind the digital marketing campaign that is considered to have had the biggest impact. We’re looking for something that demonstrates real creativity and flair, a deep understanding of digital channels and consumers, and has ensured the travel brand stood out among its competitors. Particular notice will be taken of advances and innovations made within the last 12 months.

This award will be given to the agency or travel brand that has excelled in using a wide range of media channels. We’re looking for an integrated campaign that combines more than one or all of the following channels: online display, search engine marketing, influencer marketing, social, mobile, text, retargeting, content and voice. Particular notice will be taken of use of new and emerging media platforms and advances and innovations made within the last 12 months.

This award is looking for the entry that demonstrates the most creative and advanced use of content to have the biggest impact among consumers. This could be content tailored for organic or paid search or online display, content for visual platforms, or audio content for podcasts, and written content. Judges will want to see evidence that investing in quality content is delivering against KPIs. Particular notice will be taken of advances and innovations made within the last 12 months.

This award will be given to a digital marketing agency and/or travel brand which has excelled using social media channels and influencers to build brand affinity, hone their marketing messages to key target groups and drive loyalty and advocacy. Particular notice will be taken of advances and innovations made within the last 12 months.

Technology Impact Awards 

These awards recognise the impact technology has had in the marketplace in the last year. This could be technology developed by a supplier and deployed through a partner, or partners, or systems developed in-house by a travel company and used directly in its B2C channels.

This award will be given to an individual technology product which is considered to have made the biggest impact in the market. The winning product in this category is likely to be already established in the sector but has seen particular growth or impact during the entry period. It could be a traditional software solution, selling/tour operator platform, Software as a Service (SaaS) or plug-in feature or application. Particular notice will be taken of advances and innovations made within the last 12 months.

This award will be given to a technology provider and/or travel organisation considered to have developed the most innovative software or hardware product for the travel sector. The winning innovation is likely to be new and therefore will be relatively untested in the market, but has gone through proof of concept and is being used in a live, test or pilot environment. Particular notice will be taken of advances and innovations made within the last 12 months.

This award is looking for examples of the successful application of emerging Artificial Intelligence technology in the travel sector. This could be to improve back office functions and efficiencies, analysis of data and customer insights for personalisation or to improve product distribution marketing and merchandising. Particular notice will be taken of advances and innovations made within the last 12 months.

Making sense of data in travel is increasingly essential, so we are looking for specialists in this area who have a demonstrable track record of deriving actionable insights that are being applied in the market to improve performance and business success against set KPIs. This could be an internal team or a third-party agency and particular notice will be taken of advances and innovations made within the last 12 months.

This award is looking for a technological development or platform that is challenging the norms and laying the groundwork for the future direction of technology in the travel sector. We’ll be looking for systems that offer agility and flexibility, and which support brands to be responsive to modern consumer demands. Are you challenging legacy, if so tell us all about it. Particular notice will be taken of advances and innovations made within the last 12 months although contenders will be expected to be relatively early-stage.

Technology Supplier Awards 

These awards are for B2B travel technology developers and suppliers who specialise in creating systems and digital solutions for companies who operate in the travel sector. Despite challenges of the last year many tech firms have continued to innovate and react to emerging demand from customers. We want to hear from you.

This award will be given to the large travel technology developer which is considered to have progressed most in its field in the entry period. This might be a legacy multinational which has modernised its offering or a niche supplier which has seen success introducing a new or innovative concept. This category is open to companies with more than 50 employees whether providers of traditional software products, selling/tour operator platforms or Software as a Service (SaaS) or plug-in features and applications.

This award will be given to the small travel technology developer which is considered to have progressed most in its field in the entry period. This might be a large legacy developer which has modernised its offering or a niche supplier which has seen success introducing a new or innovative concept. This category is open to companies with fewer than 50 employees whether providers of traditional software products, selling/tour operator platforms or Software as a Service (SaaS) or plug-in features and applications.

The winner of this award will be given to the entry judged to showcase best practice in technology procurement and project management from initial scoping work to implementation. We want to hear from technology firms and clients who have worked collaboratively to achieve their goals on time and within budget on a project that was started or completing during the last 12 months.

This award is looking for technology firms that have teamed up to pool their resources and knowhow to provide enhanced solutions for the travel sector. With specialists increasingly working in collaboration today, we want to hear from technology developers that have forged a new partnership to create digital products or services that have met a need among travel clients in the last 12 months.

This award seeks recognise the fact that there are always talented individuals behind every technology. We’re looking for the technology team, whether working for a tech specialist or an in-house team at a travel company or a combination of both, that has excelled in the past 12 months to continue developing and innovating existing technology or on a new project to meet the technological requirements of their clients and/or brand.

Trade and Intermediary Awards 

This category is all about how the travel industry uses digital to present, promote and retail products to the public. We’re looking for best in breed in sub-sectors whether you are a tour operator selling direct and/or via agents, third party retailers, deals site or other lead generator, or a sector specialist. The winners will be the consumer-facing websites or mobile apps judged to do the best job inspiring, informing and merchandising to consumers.

We’re looking for travel’s stand-out third-party marketing platform regardless of what specific discipline it operates in. Flash sales, database and email marketing, call generation, social networks, closed user group sale sites are all heavily used by travel firms seeking high quality leads, along with the dominant search engines and price comparison sites. So which is the most effective?

This award will go to the B2C brand judges deem to be doing the best job promoting and selling holidays and trips to the general public. Judges will be looking for the website or mobile app that stands out from the crowd in its approach and excels in providing the customer with exactly what they want.

This award will go to the airline, airport or price comparison site that best demonstrates its expertise and success in the aviation sector. Judges will be looking for the website or mobile app that stands out from the crowd in its approach and excels in providing the customer with exactly what they want.

This award will go to the experiences operator or aggregator that best demonstrates its expertise and success in the tickets and activities sector whether that’s multi-day or shorter tours. Judges will be looking for the website or mobile app that stands out from the crowd in its approach and excels in providing the customer with exactly what they want.

This award will go to the car hire company, transfers or aggregator that best demonstrates its expertise and success in the ground transportation sector. Judges will be looking for the website or mobile app that stands out from the crowd in its approach and excels in providing the customer with exactly what they want.

Special Achievement Awards 

This award will go to the travel start-up which has begun operations within the last two to three years and which is judged to have the best chance of establishing itself in the travel industry.
